Rather upset.
Jan. 26th, 2004 08:51 pmMaybe the ideals of Knighthood were never quite the reality. Maybe all knights were only priviledged brats, given a little land, a little money, and damn-near free reign. But the word "Knight" still used to mean something. There are understandings of Honour, Valour, Bravery, Chivalry, Courteous Conduct. Words which, to put a fine point on it, do not spring to mind when i think of Bill Gates. There are Charities, and various ways that he has "Given Back to the community," yes, but donating power shouldn't be the only thing that dictates a knighthood.
