"Silence. I am watching television."
Dec. 15th, 2001 04:12 pmi'm really not doing anything but sitting here. i don't know why i'm writing, other than that it seems like something i should do. who knows. here, while we wait, have some quotes:
"A poet is an unhappy being whose heart is torn by secret sufferings, but whose lips are so strangely formed that when the sighs and cries escape them, they sound like beautiful music . . . and then people crowd about the poet and say to him: "Sing for us soon again;" that is as much to say, "May new sufferings torment your soul." -Kierkegaard.
So has anyone but me noted the decline in actual thinking, feeling people in the world? It seems like people react, without forethought, these days. Someone blows up something, someone else blows them up. Reaction reaction reaction. What about Action? What about acting from a standing base of beliefs and cares about the world? Reaction's all well and good, as long as it's thought out. i turn on the TV, look at a paper, listen to the radio and it's always about how the U.S. is "hunting Osama bin Laden" to the ends of the Earth.
And i smiled the saddest smile you could ever see
because, when it came right down to it,
i understood.
C'est la Merde *wistful smile*
