Poe - [Amazed]--- I am human. I have my faults. As i've said, before, yes, i get a litle star-struck, sometimes, when i meet or otherwise interact with people who've created things that i enjoy. So, naturally, i'm gong to try to, at least a little, get them to Like me, without becoming a slobbering Fan-Boy. This being said, if i speak of these things, to you, on here, whatever, know that i'm not Gloating, or, rather, i'm not Trying to gloat. I'm simply trying to convince myself that this thing happened. That i was, indeed, fortunate enough to Experience this.

That said: I corresponded with Douglas R. Hofstadter, today. (Akira - [Kaneda]). Starting at around 5.30 this morning, before i went to bed, i emailed Professor Hofstadter, and he emailed me back. He hadn't even Heard of the book House of Leaves, let alone known that he was In it. He asked me to tell him what it was, and by whom it was written, so i explained it to him, in part. I count that as an amazing priviledge...

Lush - [Single Girl]--- I don't know. Yeah. When i meet cool people, i'll talk about it, a lot. And, if you met someone you admired, i would fully understand if you did the same. Because you respect and admire these people. And their recognition of your existence makes you feel good, inside.... Ok, so maybe i'm projecting.

Later.

In form, if nothing else. Form dictates, at least in part, mind. You're shapped like a duck long enough, you're going to start thinking Duck Thoughts. ;)

They Can be overcome, but to do so is to deny part of who you are, at the moment. Does that denial serve who you are, Ultimately= and Truly, in the long run? It's a set of personal choices.

Yep....

Heheh, well, seriously, that's the danger of Admiration. You get giggly, like that, when the Source of your admiration notices you. Sometimes it can turn itself around, and you Resent them, if they notice you. That's how stalkers get started. Anyway. I try to be level-headed about it. But it's difficult, sometimes.

As Lush Sang:
"If you want heroes keep them safe
They don't stand up to life so
Lock them in your soul and lose the key"

That's good stuff to remember, all around. I don't generally want Heroes. i want people who are cool to talk with.

yes, but i admire the fact that you actually make it a point to try and meet the people whom you admire. and in a way, i think you and they are better for the contacting.

Thank you. I do it, mainly, for the hope that they'll be in the market for one less faceless fan, and one more acquiantence or friend. To, initially, test if that's even something i want to Do. Sometime, though, the people whose public faces you admire are right assholes.

That's rarely a fun realisation. But that doesn't mean you stop appreciating their Work, then. Unless you REally want to, and can't divest the Person, from the Characters they play, song they sing, comics they write, etc..... Rambling now. Gonna go get ready for class.
