So, a note:
Jul. 29th, 2003 10:55 pmMy highschool principle, you know, the one who Radically Changed my Life? Well, at one point, to make up for some credits i missed, in my 10th year of schooling. Incident. Anyway, she assigned me Waiting For Godot, and Catcher in the Rye. If i described both of the books, and My interpretations of them, to her satisfaction, then i Passed 10th grade Lit.
i remember talking to Lorraine, after reading CitR, to make up for the credits i lost, at grady, and telling her that i really identified with Holden Caufield. That, in fact, i could see a bit of Holden in everyone i know. She looked at me oddly, said "Really?" I said "yeah," and explained the insecurity, the trying to find a Way in the world... Everything that Was Holden. She said that she agreed and understood. She said that she had felt the same way, when she read it. That was Before i realised that it was about a kid in a mental institution. She always knew that the best of us are a little insane... She made sure that we all realised it.
My point is that She once Wrote a Set of the Cliff's Notes, for the book, so she pretty well knew what she was talking about. I didn't remember that, until i was reminded, a few minutes ago (thanks
atlqueenrai). She was a Very Accomplished Woman. And she showed each of her students the lessons they needed to learn, in the ways they needed to learn them.
Man i miss her...
