wolven7God Lives Underwater - [Vapors]--- So... Evil... and Hell... seem to share a Steno Pool... I dreamed, last night, that i was in this weird, one-level office park kind of thing, with Conference rooms, and a Library, and a Wal-Mart... and I thought that it was Hell... but that wasn't quite right... unless it was Hell, in the past... I think it was a thing of Pure Evil... It made everyone, there, who didn't work there, into the Worst things of themselves. But i knew the secretary, and i could make her take memos, for me, and stuff... The Big Boss of the place looked like Dark, from Labyrinth... Traditional "Satan" image, you know? But he Wasn't Satan. I think he was some kind of Envoy. I dunno, but i know that it Wasn't Hell. That was a definitive feeling.
David Bowie - [Nathan Adler]--- Weird shite, no? So Seth, my roommate, realised something tonight, while getting cheese from the Fridge. (Gary Numan - [The Angel Wars]). He realised that, due to the Rise in acceptance, in our culture-- accepted views, behaviours, styles of Dress-- the current Rebellion Generation has to go even more extreme to defy the Status Quo. They have to turn to Violence, and, in the less affirmed, generalised bitching and moaning. Ok, so that last part was a bit of my own addition. Anyway, the point is, that by being more accepting and open, those who feel the "Need to Rebel," have to increase their "Exxtreme" actions. Acceptance helps make our children more violent. Then he retrieved his beer, from where he left it, in the bathroom.
I agree with him, on this, and think that it is an astute point, though not something that hadn't been meandering in the brain, for a bit. But he put it well to words. (Duke Ellington & John Coltrane - [In a Sentimental Mood]). Feels weird, not to have stated it, first, though... Anyway, i don't think that it's the Sole cause of the rise in violence, in our children. I think that, honestly, it's not the Conscious acceptance that's doing it.. it is, as we've all said, the Unconscious Jaded aspect of our everyday violence.
God Lives Underwater - [Happy]--- While the true acceptance does make thos3e who rebel need More, To rebel, those who commit Crime, for attention, to be seen, have to go to greater and greater extents, to be recognised, in the face of all of the recent horror... And that's kind of Sick. That we've allowed ourselves to become Desensitized to this kind of thing... But... is the shock and the Horror a bad thing, or a good thing? Is it one of those "Range of Human Experience" kind of things, that get really annoying, after a while, and you realise that they kind of Have to be there, for good or ill? And is the whole thing just one bloody great Cycle, and this "Spike" in violence" is simply us getting old, and thinking what our parents thought at our age?
Or is it all the Work of the Devil? Who knows. Anywho, just wantted to pass along Seth's thoughts, and my thoughts on Seth's thoughts.
