wolven7OhGr - [Solow]--- This is a note about Adaptations. Not the movie, but the act, in all living things, that causes them not to die, when faced with new situations. Adaptations are like all other changes, they may cause some to wonder, "If i adapt, too much, will i still be Me?" But alway remember that there has to be something there, Doing the adapting. I hung out with new people, last night, due to a series of un/happy accidents. Their names are irrelevant to this discussion, and all you need to know is that they are not the kind of people who, under normal circumstances, adapt well to new people. We got along well. Kyreshac, who has known them longer than I, got along with them well, rapidly, as well. Adaptation must happen, if we are to survive. I mean... look at the banana.
Deadsy - [The Elements]--- Poor bananas. They're all clones of the one original, and, as such, they cannot diversify, and adapt to their surroundings. Now, honestly, if we were to take the genetic materiel of said Bananas, and adapt them, for them, then we might still be in business. Cause i'll be damned if i'm going to spend my latter years, without peanut butter and Banana sandwiches. But i've made a serious digression. My wants, not-withstanding, diversity and adaptation are they keys to our continued social workings, because, without them, we'll just start tearing ourselves apart, faster and faster. (Squarepusher - [The Exploding Psychology]). And it may Look Like perpetual motion, for a while, as it just goes faster and faster, escalating to this froth-filled frenzy of violence, with us, like hard-driven horses, streaming blood-flecked foam from our mouths and nostrils and.... *ahem* I don't want us to destroy ourselves, as inevitable as that may seem, to some of us.
And i also want to succeed, in my chosen course of action. I want to teach, and i want to publish people's books, and i want to have the ability to converse with anyone, on anything, and, to do that, i'm going to have to adapt. Those of you who know me, know that i tend to like things My way, or not at all. That i don't want to play by the rules of others, if there is Any way for me to make my own... Well. I may have found some ways. And i may have to make it look like i'm conforming to certain other people's Rules. (MC Paul Barman - [Enter Pan-Man]). But that will only be upon the surface. It's like what i did, with the Regent's test. I took their Question of "What are the proper ways to display anger?" and told them that, often, i like to destroy the sources of my anger, such sources as the Regent's Test, as an institution. (Eminem - [Lose Yourself]). I passed it. Followed their format, and played by their rules, only to turn it around, on them, and get exactly what i wanted. "Do as thou wilt shall be the whole of the law," you know?
If i'm going to get what i want, out of this life, then I'm going to have to fit the roiling fires and R'lyeh-ian tentacles, into their boxes, and change the Shapes, from the inside. I have more sides than their boxes, and, if you'll remember, you can only ever be held in a box that has more sides than you. And i don't like the fact that my change may not take hold, institution wide, until after my time, but i must remember that i may, one day, time out of mind, have children, and i would Never have them go through this Hell. I would have them know it, and understand it, as much as possible, without actually experiencing it, because there are better ways. There are an infinite, myriad pathways, to their goals. And all they have to do is keep putting one foot in front of the other, on the path(s) they choose, and they Will get there.
Deadsy - [Teenage Wildlife]--- I'm adapting, to the world around me, and to the fact that these walls are very strong. But, for those of you who can but dig it, they built their houses with right angles, and the tentacles can still break through. I will change the System. I will not tear it down, or abolish it. Not totally, and by no means today, but soon. It will change, and it will accept that there are many ways to get to where you need to be. There will be no Set path, save the course of your own designing. Soon-- tomorrow-- i must talk to my academic adviser, and i must tell them the things i intend to do. And they will tell me of any and all scholarships that apply to me, and i will spend the rest of my schooled days, Truly Learning. And Changing things, from the inside.
Georgia State will have a PhD program, by the time i'm through. (Oingo Boingo - [Reptiles and Samurai]). Count on that.

They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest...Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over it if that trust is ever broken.
