I should've been a chef.
Aug. 20th, 2012 12:32 amSo, yesterday, I decided that I would Amuse Myself At Work By Creating Cheese Samples Based On The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse.
Pestilence: Made primarily of things that make me physically ill, that is Cauliflower and Strong Blue Cheese. Truffle honey for the "Conquering" part. That stuff is Intense. People fucking loved this one. People disgust me.
War: Mostly concerned with colour, here, but also the name of the cheese. The flavours were pretty standard, and I knew they would work together.
Today I completed the cycle:
Famine: See what I did there? No? Oh. Well, Tabbouleh is Bulgar wheat, herbs, onion, tomato, and lemon juice, all of which are pretty cheap. That cheese has nutmeg and Black Truffles In It. One of the most expensive foods on the planet. There you go.
And finally
Death: Snow White Cheddar (goat's milk), Hand-Dipped Dark Chocolate Figs, 18-yr Fig Balsamic Vinegar, crushed Red Pepper.
Because Hell Followed With Him.
Then tonight we had pork chops brushed with fig balsamic vinegar, and then crusted in: Asiago and Parmesan cheeses, thyme, rosemary, basil, black pepper, garlic, and crushed saltines. Then pan seared, and finished in the oven at 400°.

unknownbinaries' idea, and I forgot a part, but here goes: I then took mushrooms, sautéed and tossed them in the remains from the pork chops, and then tossed them into spaghetti with olive oil and cracked black pepper. I forgot to add more Parmesan and Asiago cheese to the pasta and mushrooms.
All served with a side salad of spring greens.
I am a fucking culinary genius.
