I'm reading China Miéville's Embassytown. It deals with conceptions of language and Language and thought and... It's a good book. It's a very good book. As I said, earlier this week, I cannot overemphasize the potency and effectiveness of the conceptual toolkit in all of Miéville's books, but this one especially. I think i'm going to add a new word to my vocabulary, because of it (floaking, in case you're wondering; read the book to know its meaning).

As I was reading, today, there was a passage that described something about Language that gave me just the strongest memory, one of the deepest moments of nostalgia, and I posted this: 'Yazmine, wherever you are, I sincerely hope that you either have read or will one day read China Miéville's 'Embassytown.' Reliving Undergrad Nights, "liek woah," as the children are wont to say.'

And then.

Pete had decided to do Star Wars Trivia, tonight. He broke out the old PA and the iPod, and we did it up like old times. Then, at round two, who should walk in but Doug fucking Prentice. Of all the people I was expecting to see tonight, he was not one of them. He left and brought Brandy back with him, and it was strikingly similar to old times.

And if these names mean nothing to you, if you have no idea who they are or why you should care, don't worry. I just need to place these here as markers; to remind myself that on a certain day, at a certain time, because of certain events, I felt a number of ways. I need reference points for this parallax of emotion.

It's a nostalgia heavy day, in a lot of ways.

Oh and we came in like Sixth.
