First Shot

As you may or may not be aware, I'm a huge fan of noir, be it in the form of films, hard-boiled novels, TV shows, or comic books. I love noir, I love well-done neo-noir, I love cyberpunk when it understands that it's futuristic-noir. I fucking love noir.

Now, with that being said, one of my favourite pieces of noir storytelling in the past decade has been Brian Azzarello's 100 Bullets, and I have Often Said that 100 Bullets done as an HBO Animated Series, with story arcs punctuated by very specific Tom Waits songs, would win ALL THE AWARDS. And I stand by that. If you've read '100 Bullets' and listened to Tom Waits, then you know i'm right. If you haven't, then the experience of it's actuality would convince you. Guaranteed. But you know what? I don't get that.

No, what I get, instead, is a live action adaptation on Showtime, and, for a showrunner? David S. Fucking Goyer.
