wolven7: (The Very Devil)
I've gotten approximately 3/5ths of the way through the first draft of my DISA proposal. I know I won't be awarded the contract, but I still say it's good practice, for future attempts. Certain fields I simply Can't fill in, but thinking thought Cost and Time Projections is extremely informative, all on its own.

On top of this, I can request an Exit Debriefing, during which they will discuss with me the best and worst points of my proposal and so on. This way, I'll learn how to better write these proposals, in the future.

And I know what you're thinking, but that is NOT what an "Exit Debriefing" means, you sick, sick bastards.

The Dollhouse is getting more and more amazing. I only have one problem with one character, and it's not who everyone thinks. It's the old partner, at the FBI. She doesn't quite get the pacing, yet. She's a little off. Eliza Dushku is getting better by leaps and bounds, every episode, and the nature of the personal identity and continuance of memory and knowledge questions they're raising are Deeply interesting, and complex.

Seriously, give it a shot.

Higurashi is giving me all kinds of fodder for my metaphysics/many-worlds/free will/continuance of memory joneses. So. Yes More Please.

That's about it.

Good night.

Americans: Why don't we demand better of our Legislature and our Executive? They have all put themselves in the tricky predicament of pandering to the people's latest technologicall needs and fashions. Whether it's YouTube, Twitter, the President's Blackberry, or whatever else, it's tricky, because it has put them all in the place of being able to be told what the people want, in Real Time.

This means that, when the bots are filtred and the people verified, immediate and direct response to Bills, Motions, Laws, and ANY AND ALL Policy Decisions can be had.

It will require Very Small infrastructure changes to make this useful and workable. A process that will: 1) Create Jobs 2) Make people more willing and able to get involved with the governemental process and 3) Make the process of Law Making more translucent. The word literally means "Letting Light Through" and I like it far better than I like "transparent," because that word, in regards to Motivations or Procedures always makes me think of Commander Vimes' realisation when Lord Vetinari said, "My motives are entirely transparent," namely Transparent can either mean you can see right through them... or that you can't see them at all.

But I digress. Please realise the power that this connectivity has, now that it's here. I've always bemoaned the entitlement culture in which we all live, by which i mean the fact that, when we are given a thing, we immediately begin to feel as if we are owed that thing, and that we deserve it, and how Dare you try to take it from us.

We have been given the means of direct access to and contact with the people who govern us.

We are owed this. We deserve this. And, if we start actually using it, properly, they'll try to take it away from us, and you Will Not Stand For It.

This brought to you by considerations of the following: http://wolven.livejournal.com/1565881.html

Have a good day.
