wolven7: (Dream House)
Zombie apocalypse. But the zombies are light sensative, and we're trapped in a mall, in this perpetual mist, and at some point someone tries to drive a lesson home by opening one of the steel shutters and lighting a flare. The zombies are also attracted to light, because they know that it means people. A group of survivors and fighters comes in and tackles her.

Running through the garage, looking for supplies and exits back into the main mall, I'm watching things, in my head, and I know that the zombies are controled by aliens. And the aliens have a baby Doctor, held hostage, along with all the other children of earth, and that the Doctor has to save them, but he can't do it with out Rose, who is flying the TARDIS, by herself, and it's talking to her. It's as alive as Moya, and it tries to pick music, for her, something for her to listen to, but all ther eis is old 1940's big band. When she tells it to find something else, it scans all available frequencies, not really being able to tell the sound of music, in one station, from the newscast which has degenerated into constant screams, as of the damned. She tells the TARDIS to change it back to the big band music.

Something in here about GSU, and talking to Dr. Herman, who wants me to do research on several thing, to advance my career, including a test called the Tao Exam. Part of the test is finding out anything about it. I'm searching through files, and documents, running around trying to get things before they get shredded, or filed away, forever. Running up and down stairs, and such.

The Doctor is standing, facing the aliens controling all of these zombies, slowly turning them into vampires, with sentience. They face him while they are holding the very young him, looking like a strange, floating Kang and Kodos, with silver light halo cylinders, rather than glass-like tubes. The Doctor is looking at them, and he doesn't even threaten to pull and break a very important lever. He just Does it. And they are all surprised. The lever was sonic, and he drops the various parts of that tech to the floor and stands and waits.

I'm back in the mall, and we're running experiemets on what used to be zombies, but are now Really stupid vampires. But we have to catch one first. We're standing by the doors, in a cirle of mild light, and I open the doors. Opening them, I can see that the outside is part of a much larger mall, with marble spiral steps, and benches. As I'm contemplating this, my attention spilts, and I'm in the same mall, but in a very different place. I am some time ahead of myself, and I am watching the last of the humans be betrayed, by what appears to be a resurrected Benjamin Franklin. I snap back to myself, when I hear people calling me, telling me to Do something, and the confused grunt of a Zombie/Vampire. I slam the door closed behind it, and begin to beat it about the head with a full beer bottle i happen to have.I have to be careful because I know that if it bites me, even a little, I'm one of them. I manage to hit it on the head, three times, and on the third it finally goes down. They're dragging it off, and talking about what they'll need to do to keep it sedated, which includes feeding it blood, not necessarily human. I turn to leave, out the doors

My attention splits, again, and time jumbles. We are being betrayed, again, and I'm watching as the doors won't completely close, because they have been disabled from within; but we have also Been Betrayed, and I need to get past the large, stupid vampire guard, so that I can alert the Wider Mall. I yell that "Metr'Mall has fallen!" until I get to the guard. I know that I can't fight him, easily, but I can confuse him. There are pig statures by the marble stiars, and I tell him "Those pigs are trying to attack! Quick, throw something at them!" I know that, being the closest thing to hand, I'm about to get thrown, and I get ready for it. I stand up, after he bowls me into the pic statues, dizzy, but okay; the statues are broken, and the big guy has come over to them to gloat. Before he remembers about me, I sneak around him, and continue the yelling throughout the Wider Mall.

Something about the overlap of the spaceships and the malls.

I'm on the second or third level of the Wider Mall, watching as humans and really stupid vampires fight on stairs and tables. Many of the vampires have been Resurrected, two notables of them being British soldiers from the Revolutionary War. They are still convinced that that is When it is, and that they are routing filthy rebel colonists. We're fighting in one of the Wings of the mall, and I consider jumping onto the steps, over the banister, but I realise that the gap is a lot wider than I expected. I run to the head of the stairs and leap over the guards, putting myself between them and the humans, and I fight them back, as the humans make it downstairs.

I'm back downstairs, and at the foot of the marble staircase in the middle lobby, between the wings of the mall, which are, themselves, malls. I look up to the top of the very steep stairs, and I see a vampire/demon queen in black and red, a crinoline dress, and pigtails. And she reminds me of a combination of Garbage's Shirley Manson and Jordan, from Scrubs; but Jordan from the first two seasons, before they tried to "soften" her image. I rush the top of the stairs planning to fight and kill her, but am intercepted by the RedCoats. They try to stop me, but i've managed to tie up the Queen and I have her hostage. There is an electronics store, behind us, full of vampire guard, waiting to see how this turns out. I have her next to the rail, and explain the situation to the Red Coats, but the queen enthralls them, telling them that she is their fair damsel, and they love her, and must save her. This causes them to begin to argue and fight over which of them loves her more, and which of them gets to have her. The queen hangs her head in frustration and disbelief, and I leave her there, and begin to talk to what used to be her guard. It's all people I kind of know, some from the Vortex, some from the Thinking Man. Bartenders and regulars, from both places, and I'm getting really sick of listening to the bickering, sick of the war, sick of being an immortal. I say, "I could wrapp this cord around my neck and jump over the railing, but there's no guarantee I'd have enough force to cut my head off." Bruce, from the Vortex, has a bunch of knives and he grins and says "I'll do it." I spot Luke, and I say No, if it comes to that, I want him to do it." And He says "No problem, Buddy. This sword'll be in your heart so quick you won't even know what happened."

We're all walking, arms around shoulders, through this upstairs food court, to the stairs down to the second level, which are not the same stairs, and we're talking about this war, and something's beginning to dawn on me. I know all of the people on all sides of this conflict, by name and the faces they wear, most often. I mention something about Lust, who is wearing black and neon green, in a ninja-style, and I remember in the war before this one, on a Hallowe'em, we had a rough and tumble against a marble pillar, in the middle of the battle. When she's in sight and range I uppercut her, hard, hitting her jaw and throat with the heel of my right hand, and the war is begun.

I finally realise that on the wider scale this war isn't a world-shattering event. It is a yearly war. A skirmish. We can none of us die, permanently, and I know that there aren't only two sides to the fight. There are billions of billions. The side on which Lust was fighting at the beginning of This battle was made of only women warrior archetypes, and [livejournal.com profile] mech_angel was on it, as well. Now the sides have spilt and recombined. Alligiances are shifted and traded, constantly, depending on need, want, whim, and an infinite myriad of other factors.

I think about the complicated interactions I've had with Lust, even as I see that she's still coming down the stairs, in a rush. I wake up.

So... Yeah. Okay... A lot of that was Soul Calibur 4-influenced. But, obviously, not all of it.

Coffee, now?

Yeah.

I have a second job interview with the owner, Friday at noon.

The manager seemed to like me, a lot.
