From [livejournal.com profile] mendori, this morning: 'Off Goes the Power Current Started by Thomas Edison'

'Today, Con Edison will end 125 years of direct current electricity service that began when Thomas Edison opened his Pearl Street power station on Sept. 4, 1882. Con Ed will now only provide alternating current, in a final, vestigial triumph by Nikola Tesla and George Westinghouse, Mr. Edison’s rivals who were the main proponents of alternating current in the AC/DC debates of the turn of the 20th century.'

[Edit: 12.38pm: I've been posting this everywhere, and I'd much appreciate your doing the same.]

Bought two seasons of The West Wing, in the past few days. $100 worth of DVD. $30. Now, I won't be buying anymore DVDs If I can help it, until the strike is over but... West Wing is a special case.

Also finally picked up The Five Fists of Science. Nice.

Need to stop spending money from the bank account, for a while.

Had steaks for dinner. Going to the bar, tonight. Should be fun.
