Dreams and Birthdays
Jul. 22nd, 2007 10:15 amDreams of driving though flooded streets, trying to make it from DC, to here. Getting cars required stealing, bumming rides, hotwiring. At one point, I can put a blanket and mattress down, and a caravan of cars will carry me. My own family won't let me ride with them. Not enough space. The highways all lookstrange, exits and on-ramps as stylised, movie versions of themselves. When I get to DC, I go to my grandmother's house, to borrow a car, and they still won't let me, so I steal one of the one's out front.
Something about roadside food and rest stops.
Driving through flood waters, raining really heavily, somehow the over-passes have been shut with 30-ft concrete walls. You have to drive either up the muddy embankments, or up and over the walls. I do both, depending on the situation. As I drive, I try not to hit the frogs, snakes, and giant earthworms I see, displaced by the flooding. When Stopping at the walls, people come to me, freaking out, not knowing what to do, and I tell them to follow me, and they do. When we get to the last wall, I know that getting over it and into the road is going to be tricky, but that it is also where things start to open up, and the flooding ceases. We get over, and the water is deeper, before everyone gets over. When the last is out, the water is just not there, anymore.
Driving through a section of highway that looked like Tennessee, in a truck, now. Joker is in the back of the truck, and he truck is also a shopping cart, and his in the kids sesat. In both of these understandings, I have to watche the cat, and keep him from escaping. I parked the car on the corner of a street that looked like someone had rearranged 13th and F. I'm trying to wrangle the cat, and also let people know I'm there. Something happens, and I try to get one of the Cosby Kids to stael a leash from one of the houses, so I can keep better track of Joker. I go to the house, and I can hear Richard Dean Anderson talking about being abandoned there, in WWII, and from the way he's talking, we're in England. I realise this is no help, and go to find Joker, but there's another cat, in the truck, just sitting there patiently, waiting. I freak out, and start searching up and down the streets for Joker. In the process of searching, I wake up
mech_angel and I went out with
not_hothead_yet, and lots of people, last night, to the Café Intermezzo on Ashford-Dunwoody. It was crowded as hell, but we all had a lot of fun.
kellinator and her husband and
ladylabyrinth were all there. Ran into someone who was supposed to not be in the State, anymore, thus proving.. something. I don't even know. That was just fucked up. Desserts and drinks were lots of fun, and we all had a great time. It was pretty awesome. Very tired, driving, on the way home, which is what sparked the dreams, I'm pretty sure.
To do, today:

A couple of things: One, happy birthday to everyone who's had a birthday so far, this year. I'm sorry I haven't said anything publically, because if means I've been being concerned about your potential embarassment, on a day that is all about you. I'll try to see that it doesn't happen again.
Two: In that vein, Happy Birthday to
momentai and
ego_likeness' Donna. Both one week after mine, which gives them a special place with me, at least numerologically.
Okay, I'm off for foods. See you all soon.
