Here's where I ramble...
Jul. 2nd, 2007 09:08 pmRasputina - [Identity Tokens]--- I bought this, ytesterday, and have been listening to it, non-stop, since then, because that's what I do. "This," of course being the new Rasputina ablum, Oh Perilous World. It is pretty damned wonderful, I have to say, and I love the second disc, with my very heart and soul. It's three am and I'm remembering everyone that ever meant anything to me, thinking about where they are, now, and whether they ever think about me, and I'm thinking about myself, and the bits of me i see reflected to the world, and I'm wondering if the world knows me, that well, yet. Disc two is my favourite. Disc one is a wonderful operatic, in the style of Franks Wild Years, but disc one doens't have Melora's treatises on the nature of time, reality and simultaneity, Cloning and Genetic Engineering, and the nature of a remorseless life.
Rasputina - [The Humanized Mice]--- I love disc two.
I've had the feeling, of late, that my attempts at re-engaging old friends has floundered on the rocks, aborted, pre-term, it's very nature an abomination of itself. That my seeking to engage those elements, old and new, is and aways will be the act of approaching things which I cannot have, yet or again, from the opposite sides of a chasm, at once.
Rasputina - [The Prunning (Pat O'Brian/Access Hollywood Mix)]--- On the one side, there are the old friends, now distant and known, their works available to all, doing more doing That Thing. (Rasputina - [Incapable of Regret]). I reach, and all attempts at contact are seen as trying to wrap myself in their accomplishments, to bathe in their vicarious warm baths. On the other side, those whose work I know, but not the person. The backward approach, there. (Rasputina - [Desert Vampire]). We've talked about that, before, though. Lush has words and music that cover what most people tell me, and what I try to remember, but what I can never do.
Rasputina - [The Contractors]--- Think about it: If you were of the sort to find synchronicity in everything you read, heard, saw, tasted, felt, not, in fact, because you always went looking for it, but because, a large portion of the time, it shoved itself down your throat, would you not want to at least discuss the accussed themes and the themes of the accused?
Rasputina - [Infidel (Instrumental Demo)]--- I would. I do. I... tend to only strain something, in the process.
Anywhoddle. I keep meaning to say this (for several months now, I've meant to say this), but if you would like my new address, you should feel free to e-mail me, and I'll probably give it to you. Unless I have any serious compunctions abot your potential psychopathy.
Rasputina - [Flood Corps]--- That's all, for now. May be back, later
