A note on Perversity. In the Poe sense... and others.

MSI - [Clarissa]--- I'm sure i've made note of it, here, before, but i want to talk about Perversity. That feeling, as described by Edgar Allan Poe, of wanting to do something simply because you know it is wrong. (MSI - [Blackmask]). Well, perhaps, not Simply, but that's a major factor, in your wanting to do it. The desire is there, in you, and society, or the rules you were taught as a child, or whatever views whatever the action is wrong, and that only increases your desire to do it. Like jumping off the edge of a building. Or being a corrupting and evil force, in the universe, or Using someone. Some of these things, people can do with no compunction, but i believe that you get the picture i'm trying to paint. We walk up to the metaphorical edge of our desire, and we waver, and, eventually, we jump.

Marilyn Manson - [President Dead]--- I've been reading a lot of "The Illuminatus! Trilogy," lately... i mean, i have to.. it's a freaking huge set of books... Anyway, i'm reading this, and i've come to the understanding that maybe these things aren't so "Perverse," after all. Funny, i know, coming from me, who endorses damn near every mode of action or behaviour. Sounds like i'm repeating myself. And i am, i guess, but it's true. These ideas, wants, desires, and modes are a part of us, and who we are. (MSI -[Ghetto BLastin']). They come from within us, and it is when we deny them, and cover them, and cower behind the ideals of society that we lose what we are, and we get twisted, and a little Bent, in the head. Society, also, declares that these wants are wrong, from square one. And, if we're going to live in this society, i guess we have to deal with that. Or leave. Or create a new society. Locke was right. A man cannot help the society into which he is born, but to make it better, when he has the mind, or to leave it.

MSI - [Planet Of The Apes]--- There is no true law, and "the true objectivist is the true schizophrenic." Ultimate realities don't exist, so why should we continue to have a society which tells us that the things we want, and feel we deserve are Wrong? Well, because it adds a certain Spice, that's why. Without the thrill of the perverse, there would be one less thing to keep us entertained, in this little stage show. (MSI - [Keepin' Up With The Kids]). As the Narrator/ Ringmaster/ Observer/ EveryMan (literally), in Illuminatus says, it's a Circus, and the show, in the centre isn't quite entertaining enough to prevent us all from leaving, one by one.

Marilyn Manson - [Coma Black]--- This place does Rock, and verily, and the whole multiversal reality thing is a bit of a gas. Sometimes i think we have too much influence on one another (particularly when i care about something someone does, too me), and sometimes i lament that we don't have enough of an understanding of each other (particularly when something i've done hasn't affect someone the way i want), and it's both, of course. We affect each other, enormously, and grandly, simply sot always in the ways we Try for... The things we do... "The good things men do. . . The evils that men do. . ." As Marc Anthony said. It's difficult. Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson's writing's are creeping into my dreams, and i'm dreaming in symbol and mythos. "Feng Shui Dragon," starring Pat Morita, ladymerrydeath, and some other people i didn't recognize, last night, for instance. (System of a Down - [Theta Waves]). And there was the premonitions i've been having all day... or "Coincidences," if you want to call them that.

Imagine: I'm sitting on my bed, after having checked the mail. It is 10 minutes later. My roommate's in the shower and I'm thinking to myself, "I wish he were out of the shower, so he could see if the mail's here." There is a knock on my door. I look up, and wonder, who would be knocking on my door, at12.25, in the morning. (System of a Down - [36]). I say, of course, "Who is it?" "Mailman." The night/day before, i dreamt of Link (From Zelda), Luigi, and Mario, swimming, jumping, and playing around on a stage that was a combination of Three Mario Stages, and some Zelda-esque stages. (Marilyn Manson - [Burning Flag]). Later, yesterday, before seeing Two Towers, i played Super Smash Bros. Melee. And saw the stage, from my dream, with those three Characters. So call them coincidences, if you want.

On a sad note, someone i admire very much, on this here livejournal thing, seems to have gone away... I don't know what to say, except that it makes me sad...

Life wouldn't be nearly as fun without it. How else do you get enjoyment out of saying inappropriate things in Macy's or wanting to start bar fights...Oh, wait, that last one's just me. :P
