If we have a system where the advancement is based not on work, but on truly doing what you love, what you can, not for survival, not for pay, but to contribute something to the growth of a society, then our model of economics would change, drastically.

So... you're wanting a shift to the Star Trek:TNG reality? Good luck with that. I used to be of that opinion, and then I realized that there needs to be some manner of incentive to those who need to say "would you like fried with that?"

I have since adopted the belief that the bar could be raised, and it has in fact been done incrementally. These things simply require a solid foundation in education, and a personal belief structure that allows for open-minded exhange of ideas.

If we change the value sets of people to focus less on monetary advancement and the "stuff" that they want that they feel are registered signs of abstracts like "success," or "wealth," or "happiness," or "freedom," then we can focus on what those things actually are and mean.

Heh, you made this post right the same hour that I made a post about economic liberty and how our freedom to spend and save is something that we shouldn't overlook...
