Doesn't strike me the same as "Tear You Apart"... His voice is very distinct, and I like how it sounds. The chorus is alright, but the overall song seems a little dull. Some of the guitar parts remind me of The Cure's music. ^_^; Not to say that's bad, since they're one of my favorite bands ever, just saying.

Not sure how I feel about it. But it's an alright song. It'll probably grow on me if I listen to it enough.

I should really listen to more of their music. I just watched the video for Tear You Apart... it's actually really awesome. ^_^

This band is the anemic placenta that slipped out of the neo New Wave movement's flabby arse. They're like Interpol, without the risk. That being said? Shirley Manson makes everything yummier, and Ryan Rickett is a brilliant director.

Interpol without the risk? I always felt like She Wants Revenge was Interpol's dangerously sociopathic cousin. There's a menace and a predatory nature to SWR that I really enjoy, and just don't feel, in Interpol, though I like them for other reasons, such as their wonderfully imagistic lyrics and haunting vocals.

Though we are certainly agreed on the province of Shirley Manson. In-Deed.

I enjoy the whole album. As I said to theremina, the predatory nature that the project into all of their songs, this low menace, but in scenarios like a club, or a college campus, are things that I can get behind. Things I recognise.

F is for Fake, er, Formula.

Menacing? Seriously? I mean, yeah, I'm sure that if My Chemical Romance or the Killers challenged these dudes to a knife fight, they'd hold their own...

But stylistically and lyrically, they have risked nada. This is incredibly well-produced minor-key/downstroke mummery, slick and made-to-order, by a couple of producer/DJ cheeseballs from LA who happen to be buddies with Fred Durst.

(I have no doubt that Justin and Adam are laughing all the way to the bank.)

going by pure sound alone, I have to side with Wolven here: Interpol sounds like a nicer, more polite cousin to SWR.

that being said, this song was kinda... less than I expect.... I was considering getting the album but now, maybe not.... so far as the video goes, yeah what a lame look to it: if she was supposed to be all femme-dom sexy, she FAILED because that was about the laziest dom I've ever seen.

Now, the singer writhing around on the floor? Hawt, yes. BUt he needs to shave that soup strainer off his face. It looks all kinds of wrong.

I agree that the production is high, here, almost to the point of being over-done, in some instances, but if it is mummery, then I don't think that, of itself, make the product bad. It makes them crap people, and shoddy musicians, sure, but it does not, to me, make the product inherently less enjoyable.

I can't speak the the actual technical aspect, because I'm not trained not do I practice enough music to make an informed contribution, there. But I do know that of similar bands, most of which I hate for their similarity and their blandness, this one manages to have something that stands out, and that actually produces Some kind of feeling.

The kind of projected menace I get from the album is like an undercurrent which, if properly framed, could turn into something even more meaningful. But I don't know what plans, there are, if any, for another album from these two.

All that being said, I respect and enjoy your music, and therefore your opinion on music is important to me. I'll give them another listen, and see if I can't see what you mean.
