Queens of the Stone Age - [Another Love Song]--- I think, sometimes, about what it means to give messages to people. Angel is the word for Messenger, in the Hebrew, and the Greek, just in case you ever forgot that. The angels, in holy books, are there to communicate intent, from the divine to human agents; they are catalysts that cause other action. Some messages are about love and birth and light, while others are about death, and plague, and Hell.

Venetian Snares& Hecate - [Intense Demonic Attacks (Initiate Devil's Answer Remix)]--- Some messages are just about who you need to know, at a certain place and time. Sometimes you don't actually hear the message, but you receive it. Actions, words, glances, meetings, relationships, all of these can be messages, and when you align yourself as messenger, when you put a Capital M on that title, it takes on an intersubjective role with anything else your wearing at the time. It makes you very conscious of what you're doing, when you do it, why you're doing it and where.

Messengers carry messages, open doors and gateways, present challenges, introduce long lost lovers, destroy lives, because you will learn something from it, becuase you need to communicate something to yourself, in a way that sticks. Your adversary and your guardian may be the same you, or me, or rock in your path.

I am adversary, keeper of the crossroads, throughput state, router, line and wire. (Tom Waits - [Just the Right Bullets]). I carry your messages and get you where you need to be, if and when you ask, and if and when you ask me not to. When I need to, or when I feel like it, most basically. And that is fine. I like that, quite a lot. But there is, as ever, a problem.

If you are a messenger, you see everything as a message. Some messages have more defined edges than others, more clear parameters, true, but everything is a message. The fall of a leaf, the lay of your shadow, and the honking of a car horn. All of these things mean something, when intersected into your life, at the angle and moment of their arrival, and the danger, here, is multi-fold. (Faith & the Muse - [Visions]). First, you may spend too much time trying to dissect the meanings, seeking their import and guidance, in daily life, with symptoms such as the over-use of tools (Tarot, I Ching, Feng Shui, Entrail Reading, Augury, &c), and the over-analysis of any and all patterns (see Pi). Secondly, you may find yourself despairing of ever finding a unifying meaning to the pattern, declairing that all is pattern, and therefore pattern is meaningless.

Both of these reactions are wrong. The pattern is all that there is, and in that pattern the drive to disorder. The third thing (the fourth fifth and nth thing, as well), in the middle, that's what matters. Drive to pattern, messages and meaning, these are simply he way of things, as are disorder, chaos, meaninglessness and deceit. (Voltaire - [Bachelor(ette) (Björk Cover)]). What counts is how they are used, that they are used, and what is created with them.

In a messengerial capacity, there is little that feels like it is meant for you: The catalyst feels untouched, often, but that is not the case, when the catalyst is aware that it catalyses. It can, then, change and grow, and apply lessons of alchemy to new situations, even though it feels, sometimes, like no one brings letters, and that all people are meant to be introduced by you, to someone else.

There's your maudlin.

The answer was: A Riddle.

Good night.

For some reason, readin that made me think of the cliffs of Dover (and whatever message they may impart onto some poor Ship in the dark)

why is Chaos stuck with meaninglessness and deceit?

If you want to divide it that way, it's because most people see chaos as a bad thing. I'm noting that all things that people may think are "bad," have places in their lives that would otherwise be empty. Even if they don't want to think about them.

It all depends, really, on how you involve yourself. If you stand aloof from all your situations and 'jobs', simply handling them, you're definitely not going to get anything for yourself. You're going to miss it in all the shuttling around.

But I don't think you have to be afraid of that. ;)

I know, it just seems that way. I meet people, they exist, in my life for a time, and then I pass them on to the people who will compliment them more fully. That's the seeming of it, if not the actual fact.

Just thoughts.

Ah, that's why...

I hadn't yet read this one. Opened it, but not read it.

Have you seen Kate's storypicture about "Is this a sign?"

There's the other one!

This one's been tickling my brain for a little bit, and I just remembered why. All the quantum physics concern about whether data is preserved. In a sense, everything is a message. If a tree falls in a forest and noone is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
Yes - The same physical reactions always occur regardless of the presence of observers.
No - There are no ears to hear it, and sound only exists when it is heard.
Maybe - The question is, itself, a paradox. If noone is there to hear it, how is it in a forest? The data will have been preserved - the point of impact clearly disrupted, the branches broken, possible nearby stack of rocks knocked down, birds definitely disturbed - but only if there is someone there to hear it.
