I've been obsessed with the giant squid since before they ever saw a live one, when it was just a mysterious creature that washed up on beaches. They used to think that the giant squid dangled about and used its tentacles to catch food that swam by, but they have discovered it is an active predator that hunts down food and attacks mercilessly. It also has the biggest eye of any animal on earth, about the size of a dinner plate!!! Basically, it's the best animal ever.
