Writing: Slow to Full Stop
Aug. 11th, 2005 12:41 amLUXT - [Subcutaneous Grin]--- It was yellow. Not that piss yellow, you get from arc sodium lights, though. It was deeper than that. It was almost orange, appearing and disappearing, making you think it was a small sun, in the fifteen feet above the dark road, in front of us, the asphalt reflecting it perfectly, and signaling everything I was afraid of, right then. The slow crawl, perfectly capturing the dead halt in my mind.
I couldn't look at it, didn't want to look at it, but the glare on the road held my eyes. On, off. On, off, shining through the trees, illuminating everything but the darkness on the sides of the street. (LUXT - [Hardware]). It collapsed, in, then. The mood, the conversation, everything that was, in the world right then, sprialled into that light, the glow that didn't so much shine as it slid, slick and viscous, thin slimy ooze over the pavement, and the green. It wasn't Lantern-stopping, not the colour that they fear; I said that. But it was enough to throw everything into question.
We were in that sphere for less than five seconds, but it's got me, and I'm still there, in a way. (LUXT - [Filament]). Because, in that light, i saw everything coming to a stop, i felt the gears winding down, grinding to that bare stop that comes right before everything flies out of control, into the ether, spinning to fast to control, with no teeth left to hold, or ever stop again.
LUXT - [Fiend]--- And now I don't know which prospect scares me more, the stagnant, pregnant stop, or the blind perpetual motion.
